The Paris criminal court sentenced, Friday February 16, to prison sentences, to be served under an electronic bracelet, the two protagonists of the “AZF group”who had threatened twenty years ago to detonate bombs on the tracks of the SNCF network.
Michel D., 76 years old, retired business manager, was sentenced to five years in prison, including four years. His accomplice, Perrine R., 61 years old, one of his ex-employees, to three years in prison, including two prison sentences.
The two defendants left the courtroom without a word. The court followed to the letter the requisitions of the prosecution, which had requested a prison sentence for them.
Appeal of conviction
The court also received the constitution of civil party from the SNCF and ordered Michel D. and Perrine R. to pay 5.8 million euros to the railway company for the material damage suffered, and a symbolic euro for the damage moral. Lawyers for the two defendants announced that they would appeal the conviction on civil grounds.
Michel D. and Perrine R. were tried for “criminal association” and “unauthorized manufacture and possession of explosive devices”. The court released Perrine R. regarding the manufacture of explosives.
